The subject of faith has been widely spoken about in many religious sectors. Still, many do not fully understand the concept of faith. In this piece I will be addressing the origin, increase, and application of faith.
The origin of faith
In order to understand faith and how it works it’s vitally important to know where faith originated from. Hebrews 12:2 says “Looking unto Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith…” Jesus came from heaven to earth to announce His kingdom with the purpose of saving mankind from sin and eternal destruction. Anyone who responds to the message of the cross is born again into the kingdom. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Eph. 2:8 (Grace is what Jesus did for you; faith is believing and accepting it).
We are saved by grace through faith, meaning we have been given faith to be saved by grace into the kingdom of God. God offers us grace, we accept it by faith. It is fair to say that we also live in His kingdom by faith. “The just shall live by faith “Heb. 10:38
Faith is the language of God if you will. Hebrews 11:6 says ” without faith it is impossible to please God…” if we want to have a remarkable experience living in the kingdom of God, we need to have faith.
How to increase your faith
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Rom 10:17. We receive salvation through the message of the cross, and those who respond by faith are saved. This same faith has the capacity to grow and produce results as you feed on the Word of God that deals with other topics like healing, prosperity, deliverance. As we listen to the Word, it forms a knowledge of the word in your mind. Further meditation will triggers rays of revelation in your spirit. These revelations will become truth – absolute divine knowledge & understanding. This experience is made possible by the Holy Spirit who lives in us. John 14, 16 He will teach, reveal, counsel and comfort you, The revelation given to you through scriptures by the Holy Spirit is the foundation of faith. The Holy Spirit can also use preachers and teachers of the Word to establish and increase your faith.
Applying your faith
When applying faith to a situation, it is more than speaking, that’s why many pray for the sick but are not healed. They did not have the revelation of the Scripture and spoke without understanding. For instance James 5:15 Sometimes when faced with a dire situation, it prompts prayer out of fear or from an overwhelming of emotions. This further frustrates their situation because God is not moved by fear or emotion; He is moved by faith.
The prayer of faith will heal the sick (James 5:15). This foundation of this faith is purely based on the revelation of the Scriptures. Hence, when the faith is applied, it will produce result just as the Scripture says.
When faced with a dire situation whether sickness, struggles, or emotional pain, before you speak, find the Scripture that pertains to your situation. Meditate and receive revelation, then speak in the name of Jesus to the situation and you will see change in your situation.
